What was your inspiration?
I had previously posted this work in progress, so here is the final, completed project. Washed even! This is my version of a cross quilt I had seen before. I wanted it to look like a stained glass window, so here is my interpretation.
What are you most proud of?
I like the colors, and the ribbon of black all over, but mostly, I am proud that I finally dared to Free Motion Quilt most of the project. I did some straight quilting, and stitching in the ditch around the black ribbon, but the open areas, I tried my hand at FMQ. I think I did good - Not great - but well enough to get me excited and looking forward to doing FMQ on my future projects. I am going to give this to my mom as an early Christmas present - I can't wait until December! He he he.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Choose bright colors with a bit of print and variation in the color. Batiks worked beautifully. Think out the colors, and as always, just take your time and enjoy the process of making this. I certainly did.
