What was your inspiration?

I had always wanted to try to make a lampshade but wasn't quite sure how. I recently found someone who was willing to coach me.

What are you most proud of?

That it stayed together!!!!!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The most difficult part was actually forming the shape of the shade after all the pieces had been cut and foiled. In this case, there were 8 separate panels consisting of 4 pieces of glass soldered together. Heavy as it was, without a second set of hands available at the time, portions of some of the panels had the foil pulled off the edges, even using a lot of electrician's tape to aid me. The panels which I was able to solder together with the foil intact I kept as is, replaced the foil on the other pieces, then gradually put the shade together. It helped to use a box full of crumpled up newspaper to support the pieces, along with a lot of tape!!!! The end result is so beautiful to me, that it was well worth all the effort and hassle.
