Instructions
I saw this classic pattern in a book using more traditional fabric. The concept was so simple I thought I didn't need a formal pattern so I just cut long strips from my scraps and sewed them together and it worked! There is quite a bit of hand quilting which is the only thing that would make this quilt more difficult for a beginner, but you don't have to do as much as I did to make a nice quilt.Difficulty:
Category: Quilting
Type of item: Functional
For: Home
Style: Mod, Casual, Classic
Materials
quilting scraps, cotton fabric, all natural batting, quilting thread
What was your inspiration?
I liked the idea of opposites in the same quilt. Vibrant color against stark white and simple design with lots of quilting for texture.
What are you most proud of?
I'm very happy with the way the hand quilting patterns I chose turned out.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Make sure you leave enough extra backing and batting fabric around the edges if you're going to hand quilt as heavily as I did because you may need to square the whole thing up a little more before you add the binding.
