This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Quilting Big Projects on a Small Machine »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Traditional

What was your inspiration?

I love traditional quilts and wanted a timeless look for a quilt that would be used on a daily basis.

What are you most proud of?

The seams line up, well most of them do!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't worry if the first seam is wonky, it needs practise like any other new technique. I found using a 1/4" foot rather than a walking foot kept everything a consistent size that laid flat each time.

I love this! Do you have the pattern anywhere?

I didn't have a pattern for this one, it is simple enough not to need one. Each block is made up of 36 2.5" squares and has a finished size of 12". Arrange in a chequerboard . Make as many as you need using as many different colour combinations as you fancy. Quilt as desired, I used my walking foot and did tramlines either side of the seam. Play with arrange of blocks until you get a combination you like. Use the technique taught in Quilting Big Projects on a Small Machine to join the blocks. Add binding, sit back and admire your quilt.
