Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Machine Quilting: Free-Motion & More »

Instructions

I found some very old unfinished blocks and decided to finish them so I could have a practice piece to machine quilt.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Whimsical, Classic, Traditional, Casual

Materials

Cotton material

What was your inspiration?

Quilt class and desire to improve my skills.

What are you most proud of?

I did not do real good at first but as I sewed I could see the improvement. The use of old blocks into a small piece was just what I needed to practice. I call this a topper but it may end up as a baby doll quilt.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Practice and take your time.

Thank you, this was the first time I used those techniques so I am not real smooth but I know that with practice I will do better. At least now I have confidence on what to do, thanks to your teaching.

so is this the class you would recommend to someone that has not taken the class before and loves to quilt?

Yes, Wendy provides instruction on how to properly prepare the back, batting and top for quilting. I have used these pointers and the class on walking foot. Just this week have pinned two pieces which I will practice simple freehand quilting. World became crazy this week so I look forward to quilting next week. Good luck to you.

Use a walking foot, it does the work for you. The class teaches how to prepare your quilt for quilting and techniques in using the walking foot. This small quilt was all done using these techniques. Good luck

Thank you, some of the lines are wiggly but it was a practice piece.
