What was your inspiration?
I wanted to make a crib quilt, using the traditional pastel shades, but with a brighter twist. With this block, the center is bright, surrounded by the pastel shades to tone it down.
What are you most proud of?
I love the way the colors work together. I got to use a million scraps, and the scraps were really small, so I felt like I was putting to use all the bits and pieces that have been accumulating in my scrap bag. It's amazing how many memories pop up as you discover a fabric in the bag, and can picture the original project right away, or where you purchased the fabric.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Don't fell like you have to stay with the scrappy theme. I think this would look terrific in some bold fabrics, with a solid color background, and maybe some neutrals in the lighter parts of the block. Do your own thing.
