What was your inspiration?
During the first week of January I went quilt shop hopping across central Nebraska with some friends. I was entranced with the bright, springlike colors in the fabrics I found in one particular shop. I knew I had to make something from those fabrics so I bought them with no plan at all for how I'd use them. Several days later when I was putting away the last of the Christmas decor I realized that my family room coffee table was in drastic need of something bright and new. Fabric problem solved! A table runner! And, of course I made two. How could I resist?
What are you most proud of?
I made a pattern for my table runner design. The pattern making isn't getting much easier, but I do love the challenge. I'm so pleased with the little mug rugs made from corners I cut off the runner. Waste not, want not.
Best of all, though, my husband absolutely loves the table runners! This is a man who didn't really "get" the whole quilt thing until I'd been quilting for many years. Though he's really come around, it still isn't easy to impress him.
And ... my FMQ is coming along!! Not perfect, but definitely improving. It makes me want to dance. No, better not. I'd likely throw something out of joint. lol
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Just have fun! Play with the arrangements of flowers and such. Let your imagination go and enjoy the process of making something your own.
