What is exciting or interesting to you about your photo(s)? I was out with the dog this morning and the sun was just coming over the top of the hill and catching these bright catkins producing a lovely warm glow. I loved the bright yellow flowers against the darker background. Couldn't resist snapping!

I did consider cropping out the background, but I felt that they put the main subject in context as they are the same shape and colour

This is a lovely use of shallow depth of field, color and light. Yes, there are bright areas in the background that could potentially be distractions, but I don't think they are here. The background gives a feeling of setting and creates a nice visual relationship between sharp and out of focus catkins. In addition, the sharp tree flowers are bright enough to hold their own with the background, allowing it to be an interesting background that adds more to the photo than you could get with just a tight shot of the sharp catkins.
