Instructions
Using a gridded fusible web as my base, I cut 2-1/2" squares and fused them into a patchwork design. After sewing the patchwork background, I appliqued a cross cut from purple fabric that graduates from light purple in the center to darker at the edges. This symbolizes the glory of Jesus' resurrection over the sorrow of the cross. It will hang on the lectern at my church on Easter morning!Difficulty:

What was your inspiration?
I was asked by my church to create a banner for Easter, so I set out to design one that showed the triumph over the cross. The center of the cross is "fading" due to the graduated purple fabric I used that is light purple in the center and gradually becomes darker at the edges.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
The fusible gridded interfacing that can be purchsed by the yard was extremely helpful in laying out the hundreds of 2-1/2" squares. Also, it makes my points match perfectly once it is sewn!
