What was your inspiration?

Free motion quilting is so fun. With a little practise. This piece was as a gift for a friend but it allows one to practise free motion on a smaller scale and have a usable item. I enjoy making the stitches design as I go.

What are you most proud of?

This is the first feather stitching I've been happy with. They are free form.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Relax. Start with the bottom piece first, as it will not show as much and give you time to practise. Move on to the smaller side pieces before doing larger front and back. Don't cut your pieces to size before quilting as the quilting with alter to shape. Allow an extra inch or two all the way around, then cut to size. Avoid straight lines and squares as they will likely look crooked on the squared bag. Have fun :)

Your quilting is absolutely beautiful! Did you use a longarm or a standard sewing machine?

Thank You :) I'm still practising. I used a standard sewing machine, Kenmore 19050. It does have speed control and needle up/down.
