Instructions
I planned this peyote stitch pattern on peyote graph paper first with colored pencils. As I worked up the case I drew the rest of the flowers directly onto the wooden case in pencil - just the outlines, and picked up the beads and stitched them into place just working directly from the pattern on the case instead of the graph paper.Difficulty:
Category: Jewelry
Type of item: Functional
For: Women
Style: Whimsical, Cute
Materials
Delica beads, wooden needle case, Nymo D thread.
What was your inspiration?
To decorate a needle case to hold my beading needles in a beautiful floral pattern.
What are you most proud of?
The surprise at the top and bottom of the case, when making the peyote decrease it created a star on the top and bottom - I'll try to photograph it and include a picture.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Try using peyote graph paper, design a pattern you like, use color pencils to match your beads and try following the pattern. This beaded cover is stitched to size on the case so that it is not even glued on but simply holds on tight to the wooden case. I used Delica beads to make this case but I think Aikos would be incredible to use. These beads sit well on the wooden case. A round bead would create a very different look. Maybe I'll try it sometime.
