I wanted a purse for a Spring Wedding. I wanted it to look like it had just been plucked from the forest floor. I used scrap fabrics left from other projects, silky fabrics, scraps of sari fabric etc. I used iron on interfacing to stiffen the petals and plastic embroidery round to stiffen the bottom.
What was your inspiration?
I wanted it to be functional, but look fanciful.
I love how flowers open up to reveal their center. I wanted the purse to open that want
What are you most proud of?
It turned out fanciful but not tacky
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Draw out your bottom circle, determine how many rows of petals and go from there. Make the inner bag lining first, draw string and all then make patterns for your petals and start adding them. Make the bottom last. I chose to use cut chiffon leaves. These leaves have raw edges . I think this adds to the wild natural look.
