Tell us more about what inspired you. Cherry Chocolate Recipe - from Watkins
Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: This is a three layer cake: two cherry vanilla and one cherry chocolate layer. I flavored the buttercream a subtle cherry-almond flavor.
What are you most proud of? This was the most misbehaving fondant I've ever worked with; I was humbled every step of the way. The cake was originally to be all white, but the white fondant tore and was crumbly, it stuck to the rolling pin and flaked like a pastry. I was near tears and didn't want to go through all the work to make more fondant. I decided to cover the sides with a pink fondant I had on hand, and designed the cake on the fly, completely deviating from the original plan. It turned out to be different than I imagined, but many, if not all of the things I make, turn out that way
