What was your inspiration?
I haven't been able to resist Kaffe Fassett's vibrant, glowing use of colour in his designs and bought two jelly rolls of his fabric, one bright and one light. They sat in my stash for a while until I found this pattern in Pam and Nicky Lintott's book, "Jelly Roll Quiilts". I just quilted it "in the ditch" (or, in some places, "near the ditch" - I'm not particularly good at it, being in too much of a hurry by that stage!) as I thought that was sufficient for this pattern. As the jelly rolls weren't the usual size, but were 30 strips each, I had enough left over for another project.
What are you most proud of?
The cheerful brightness of the finished quilt is very uplifting. In fact, before we show visitors into our guestroom where the quilt lives, we suggest that they may like to put on their sunglasses first!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
It's an easy pattern and goes together very quickly if you chain-piece the various sections of fabric. There are several ways the blocks can be arranged, so have fun finding the one you like best!
