What are you most proud of? Last year when I was designing my beach collection I tried several times to knit a spiral shell. Each time I was stumped, and in the end put the project aside. But it has been niggling at me, and so I decided to give it another attempt. Some spiral shells are flat, but I wanted to knit one that was truly cone shaped. I am really pleased with the final result. The knitting is not hard, and is on two needles, but by using short rows, the work naturally starts to form a spiral.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? I know a lot of knitters really dislike sewing up. There is a little work here, and you have to be quite careful. The pattern does contain photographs to help you with this part. I think the results are well worth it.

Thanks, it took quite a lot of hunting round yarn stores to find something just right.

What yarns did you end up using?

I have used different wools, but the ones that I think work best are Sirdar Crofter. If you look at my blog you can see some more pics here http://ginxcraft.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/shells.html, and where I had a go with a darker shade here http://ginxcraft.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/spiral-shell.html
