Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: I made this cake for the 4th birthday of my sweetie's nephew. It's a chocolate mudcake, covered in fondant and surrounded by a plastic chocolate NY skyline; it served about 24 people. Spidey is made of black, red and blue candy melts.
What advice would you give someone starting this project? Dowel the cake, and use a sturdy base (mudcake or similar.) Cover the cake in fondant, but use plastic chocolate (or a 50% mix like I did) for the buildings. Googling "(city name) skyline silhouette" will give you plenty of pics you can use as templates.
