I created the base card from deep peach cardstock and scored it at the top so that my Southwestern sunrise card opens from the bottom. I layered the top panel with light peach cardstock and a coordinating variegated paper. At the interface of the cardstock and variegated paper I affixed a slender deep peach satin ribbon.
For the imagery on the front of the card I elected to create two separate silhouetted images. I created the sunrise by sponging glossy cardstock with several inks. I added digital stamps of a saguaro cactus, woman, & grasses to the sunrise background and silhouetted them. Using dies I cut the saguaro cactus into an oval and the woman into a sun-like shape. I matted each image on deep peach cardstock die cut to the same shapes. To complete the card's front panel I affixed the two images and popped them slightly off the surface of the card.
For the inside card panel I decorated cream cardstock with a strip of the variegated paper and matted it with light peach cardstock. I left the panel blank.
I also handmade the envelope from heavy white cover stock and decorated it with a strip of the variegated paper to complement the card.
You can see many more pictures and additional detailed information on this card and envelope ensemble (including supply and tool specifics) on my blog post at http://polishedmoxie.blogspot.com/2012/03/handmade-southwestern-sunrise-card-in.htmlCARD (5.5" tall by 4.25" wide)
