What materials did you use? Aida cloth; DMC embroidery thread

What are you most proud of? The neatness of the stitches, that I managed without the use of a laying tool.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Use a laying tool. It will go so much faster for you!

I love it now I would like to do one any advise on where I can find a pattern

This pattern was one I found in a magazine. I recently had someone else ask me where to find it, so I dug it out of the stash. It was in the April 2006 issue of The Cross Stitcher Magazine. If you don't have it, you can often find back issues available for sale either from the publisher or on places like eBay. Good luck, hope you can find it!

Love the design and colours

Thank you! When I saw the pattern, the photo that went with it did not appear to be these colors. I was a little surprised when I bought the supplies, but I liked how it turned out.

This looks similar to Swedish Weaving

I'm not familiar with that, but I think I will need to look it up. :)

Beautiful! I did Bargello on needlepoint canvas for years back in the late 70's-early 80's, but cross stitch was so much less expensive that I switched to that, and never even considered how pretty a bargello pattern could be when worked on aida cloth! I will have to dig out my bargello patterns and give it a try!

Thank you! I had never heard of Bargello before until your comment. How about that? I didn't even know that's what I was doing! The magazine just called it straight stitch. There are some beautiful Bargello patterns out there, and now I'm interested in doing more, too! :)
