Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Drab to Fab Furniture Upcycling »

Instructions

We really wanted the top of the project to be a wood stain so because the table had a THICK dark cherry finish we had to use a heavy duty stripper to get it down to bare wood.

Difficulty:

Category: Home & Garden

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Unisex

Style: Traditional, Classic, Casual

Materials

Stripper+Sander/deglosser+Acrylic Latex Paint(Mistint I found at Lowes for $3)+Minwax+Briwax+BrushesandRags+New Hardware from Hobby Lobby

What was your inspiration?

I found a similar sofa table on pinterest and just knew that it was the look I wanted for mine as well!

What are you most proud of?

It took us hours to strip that thing down to bare wood. :) The top came out so nicely!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Before taking Anne Maries class the idea of painting a piece of furniture was super intimidating. I did not use all the products that she uses. I just used what I had on hand. More than anything her class has given me the courage to just jump in-- get my feet wet and my hands dirty! Just go for it! Trial and error is the best way to learn!

Thank you! :) The painting/staining went so fast but the stripping was very time consuming. A long process but so worth it!
