STASH BUSTER SOCKERS
Instructions
I just made this up as I went. Started with a small circle and increased at two ends until I had an oval that fit over my toes. Then I proceeded to stitch evenly in extended single crochet stitches until I got to the instep area. I decreased a couple of stitches for two rows and continued to stitch evenly. When the sock reached my leg, I did half the round over the top and then chained 20 free stitches. I reattached to the opposite side - this "hole" is where the heel will go later. Then I continued to stitch around the top and around in the chain and upward until it was high enough for me. After that comes the heel . This is done pretty much the same way as the ankle portion only you decrease 4 stitches with each round until you have a small enough opening to gather it together and slip stitch it off. I put a decorative front post/back post extended single crochet stitch around the ankle with a contrasting yarn. You could go up the leg as high as you wish using this same stitch or another of your choosing. I hope that's clear enough. Of course, you can do these using one skein of the same yarn if you wish. I used worsted yarn and a Hook size F, if you use sock or DK yarn, you might have to use a smaller needle and more stitches. I kept trying it on to see if it was the right size.
