What was your inspiration?

My friend chose the green fabric while visiting me this August and I designed this quilt around it. I found some line art snowflakes and made each one different, choosing to do the snowflakes in color on a white background instead of the other, probably more traditional way. This quilt will be a gift for my best friend since high school,(nearly 40 years of friendship) and on the nameplate I have embroidered "Like each of God's snowflakes, friend, you are one of a kind".

What are you most proud of?

I am just learning to free motion quilt, and have learned so much in this course. I am also taking Ann Peterson's wonderful Beyond Basics course and really hope to be able to master enough to improve my skills in that area. I did an all over meander on this quilt and it is the first time I have done free motion on a quilt of this size. I know my next one will have a bit more fancy stitching, but I am happy to be getting my "toes in the water", and know that a year ago, I couldn't have done this.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just have some fun with it!
