What materials did you use? Crochet cotton, size 10, a size 8 (1.50 mm) steel crochet hook, foam core board, plastic wrap, fabric stiffener, paper towel, and rust-proof straight pins. Optional materials: assorted ribbon, jump rings, crystal beads, clear glitter paint, ornament hangers, and small suction cups with hooks.

What are you most proud of? I enjoy playing around with the different stitches to see each pattern take shape. Snowflakes are also very versatile: you can add a attach a small snowflake to make a hanging ornament, connect several to create a garland, use them for gift decorations, etc.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Snowflakes are a great project for the intermediate crocheter. Be sure to keep track of which step you're on in each of the rounds. This snowflake is part of the Fun & Fancy Flakes No. 1 pattern set. It is written in U.S. terms.
