What materials did you use? Shown in in Hunt Valley Cashmere 2-ply yarn. To make your own Smoke Ring with Lace Edging, yarns in qiviut, cashmere, yak down, alpaca, angora, silk and blends thereof are just a few of the many good choices.

What are you most proud of? Simple lace stitch patterns give this form of cowl/wimple a dressy, upscale look without a lot of fuss. The smoke ring is begun with a strip of lace edging, then stitches are picked up and knit in the round in another lace stitch pattern. A decorative bind off completes the smoke ring knitted tube.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? The pattern has instructions for 2 sizes - 22" [24"] circumference and 18" length, 300 [325] yards laceweight or fingering weight yarn, 5 stitches/inch, size US 6 / 4.0 mm needles suggested. Written stitch instructions.

OOOO, I do like this one Jackie ... I'd make it in cashmere to add just a tad of decadence ...

I have knit this in cashmere for my mother and it is yummy yummy yummy. I was actually sad when I was done knitting it too because it was such a dream to knit; not just knitting with the cashmere, but the pattern was so soothing and relaxing to follow, a sheer pleasure from beginning to end. Can't wait to knit it again and again.
