Is this made using the huggable bear pattern or is this a new pattern?

Completely new pattern :) There are two sizes on this pattern, step by step guide is included with the directions. This polar bear has the legs and body knitted as one piece so easier to assemble. Polar bear also has very large feet and a different shaped head/muzzle.

What other yarns would you suggest? The yarns suggested are not available in my area. Walmarts here just sell Red Heart yarns. Not much to choose from.. I just love the looks of this bear.

Difficult because I'm not familiar with all US yarns. You could use all worsted weight, just one yarn, I've made one like that and it looked really sweet. But if you wanted to use two yarns then try and find one that has some texture in it. As long as the main yarn and contrast yarns are the same weight, then it will be just fine :)
