Sleeping beauty

Instructions

I used measurements of another similar sized sleeping bag.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Functional

For: Children

Style: Casual, Romantic, Cute, Whimsical, Funky

Materials

Cotton fabrics my Babushka bought when I was about 9-10 years old :) In fact I remember begging her to buy the fabric with girls on it :) Bias tape, freakin long zipper, spare buttons to my husband's lab coat (hope he wont need them anytime soon haha), stud thingo.

What was your inspiration?

My Little Monkey, of course :) Her sweet little toes are running out of room to whiggle freely in the sleeping bag she has been using for the past forever, so I have decided to make her a new one :) and use fabric my grandma bought when I was very young :)

What are you most proud of?

Finishing it! I stuffed up biiiiiiig time. First it was too wide, so I fixed that. Once it was nearly finished I realised the neckline was waaaaay too wide and could possibly big enough for an adult, not an almost 2 year old, so I had two choices - to pull it apart and start again (ouch!!) or do something... So I opted for the Do something option :)

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I stuffed up at the pattern level. Make sure you double and triple measure and re-measure everything before you even touch the fabric. Oh, and even if you happen to stuff up - so what!

I love it that you used 10 yr old fabric, I love it that you made it for your 'little monkey' and most of all I love it because you found a way to make it work when you realized you stuffed up, well done

Thank you. I actually enjoyed the challenge to make it work. I would have been such a waste to just dump it. LM seems to be very comfy in this sleeping bag, so I am glad I did not give up when it got difficult.
