This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Knit This: Mastering Lace Shawls »

Instructions

Make sure you do your gauge swatch.
My gauge wasn't spot on but I didn't have larger needles and was keen to get started so my shawl, even after blocking, ended up quite a bit smaller that it should have.

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Traditional, Classic

Materials

Tilli Tomas - Artisan Sock Yarn - Color=Calm

What was your inspiration?

Just love knitting lace.

What are you most proud of?

That I have created a lovely handknitted item.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Make sure you do your gauge swatch. Mine wasn't exactly right and I didn't have larger needles but was keen to get started. My shawl ended up smaller that it should have.

Listen to Laura she is a great teacher.

I was thinking about using a cashmere lace weight but I am going to start with a basic finger weight first as this is my first attempt at lace and reading a chart. I still haven't gotten the gauge right.

I to was initially going to use lace weight but quickly realised as this was my first shawl perhaps I should just use finger weight yarn. I had to have a couple of goes at getting correct gauge.

It turned out great! Inspires me to get mine done - I have the yarn but haven't started it yet. Too many projects to do - I don't want to start this and set it aside because I am afraid I will forget where I left off and it will become another UFO - I hate those!

I know what you mean about UFOs - If you want to keep your original pattern instructions in tact either copy or reprint and cross off sections as you complete them and/or write notes this way you always know where you are up to!!
