Skywalker

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Knit This: Mastering Lace Shawls »

Instructions

The instructions call for 400 yds. lace yarn. I used a 440 yd skein and am a tight knitter. I only had a little left when done. One might consider using a skein with more yarn just to be safe. An excellent project for those beginning with lace. One should have some basic mastery of knitting stitches before beginning, though.

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Romantic, Casual

Materials

Knitpicks Lace yarn, merino silk blend, in Lilac - 440 yds. I'm a tight knitter so I still had a little left over after this shawl. A looser knitter might consider more yarn. I used circular needles size 5 to get guage.

What was your inspiration?

I've been wanting to learn how to knit lace but had little luck on my own. I was so glad to see this course offered. The patterns that came with the course are both pretty. And, skywalker is a bit whimsical. If only my hair were long enough to style it like Princess Leia!

What are you most proud of?

This was my first experience with reading charts. It was very helpful of Laura to go over this topic so thoroughly. Her instructions were so clear. I think this was the most accurate thing I've ever knitted!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Lifelines are your friend. Perhaps watch the section on lifelines before going into any of the pattern work.
