What advice would you give someone starting this project? Listen when Laura suggests *not* using a dark yarn for a first shawl... but if you fall in love with one, go for it! I'm using a really strong light and occasionally using a white pillow in my lap so I can see my stitches more clearly. 8/30/13 Success! I finished the shawl and blocked it. Once I got into the rhythm of the shawl, working in black wasn't a problem. I looked at the Planet Stitch section and saw another arrangement, so I took the chart, did some cutting-and-pasting, and ended up with a gentle wave. Afterwards, I realized how lucky I was that I knit tight, because that section has more stockinette than the original, and I might have run out of yarn otherwise.

Zianessa, this looks great. Did you find it hard to work with the dark color?

It's a little more challenging. It's harder to read the stitches, but I'm really liking the way it's turning out. Worth the extra attention it's taking.
