What was your inspiration?
I've been knitting for several years, simple straight knit/purl. Two years ago I decided to be adventurous and made a pair of socks. After that project I felt invincible! I purchased a lace shawl kit from a well-known online craft store but was really discouraged because the pattern just wasn't coming out. I was thoroughly frustrated. Then I found Craftsy.com. I was anxious to watch the videos and have my own "personal" teacher.
What are you most proud of?
Laura is fantastic!!! Such a wonderful teacher! I was able to learn lace knitting and create a beautiful project. I also learned how to "read" my knitting and the value of the "lifeline." The class restored my confidence. Thank you Laura! Thank you Craftsy for this awesome platform!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Be sure to have plenty of yarn. (I used Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend, 3 skeins [450 yds]. I made a swatch that matched the gauge but ran out 3 scallops from the end on the edging.) Read the pattern before starting and take your time. Utilize the videos and that wonderful 30 sec repeat button. You CAN do it!
