What was your inspiration?

I've always wanted to make a lace shawl. I was given a lace shawl kit that I was afraid to attempt because of the delicate nature of the the fibers. Coming across Laura Nelkin's class (Knit This: Mastering Lace Shawls) was my answer!!

What are you most proud of?

I followed Laura Nelkin's class and completed my first lace shawl pattern! Skywalker was challenging for me, but fun as I watched the pattern develop. I look forward to making another as a gift.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Go for it!! Start with light fingering weight yarn as Laura suggests. Replay the video as often as necessary. Remember that taking out rows of knitting with regular yarns does not harm the yarns and the learning process continues!

Congratulations on your first shawl - and what a lovely pink. I'm nearing completion and am so anxious to see how my first turns out too :D

I had started struggling making a pair of socks a year ago and put the mess aside. When I decided to take this class, I rewound the 2 colors: pink for Skywalker and purple variegated for Claris. Looking forward to your posting of your shawl!
