Instructions

A word of advice about sewing curves – My garment construction teacher at college recommended that difficult curves be sewn from the center out, one half at a time to ensure that there are no tucks. Rather than spend five minutes pinning the whole thing (good god I hate pinning!) I ironed the pink wedges in half so the dead center was obvious, lined the crease up with the middle of the arc (there ...

Why is it called "Single Ladies Quilt"? The first time I've ever seen this pattern. I tried a double wedding ring quilt 16 years ago (the first quilt I ever made) and failed MISERAB LY! (not recommended, lol) Gave up shortly after that and donated all the pieces to my older and more experienced quilting friends that made a beautiful quilt out of it!

Hi, just love circles. Have you tried 'vilene' (as called in Australia). It's soft has iron adhesive on one side. So cut fabric circles & vilene same size. Sew vilene & right side of fabric circles together using 1/4 inch seam allowance, cut a small cross in centre of vilene. Clip fabric edges every inch or so (otherwise won't be flat. Turn thru small cut. Then with round circle adhesive side vilene, position on the background. If square, centre it and iron on. Voila. Then edge with whatever - machine or hand embroidery or other finish. (Just remember the glue side is on the inside of the circle to begin with so DO NOT iron that!!!) Have a go mine looks great with 3 Perle DMC cotton in feather stitch. downunder Susan

What size block does this turn out to be? I'm thinking of using the color wheel as a guide to make each block. Maybe finding Batiks ths I can use for the outer rings and make them in 4 curved pieces instead of the 8 arc....playing with the idea!

I want to say that the entire circle is 15 or 16" wide? I think it would look really bold and funky in batiks with only four arc pieces! go for it!!
