A quick tutorial on how to appliqué a t-shirt using Heat'n Bond can be found on my blog, Dia's Days.Difficulty:
Category: Sewing
Type of item: Clothing
For: Children
Style: Whimsical, Casual, Cute
Materials
Store-bought t-shirt, scraps of cotton fabric, Heat'n Bond, thread
What was your inspiration?
This t-shirt was inspired by my daughter's 8th birthday; it's a great way to give her a handmade gift that doesn't take much time to complete.
The t-shirt has a special tag with the age she is turning sewn to the back of the tee. The tag can be embroidered on a piece of muslin or sewn with a special triple stitch on the sewing machine (if you are limited on time) and then sewn onto the t-shirt. I like to fray the sides to make it a little more fun.
What are you most proud of?
Making a quick handmade gift for my daughter that she loved.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Have fun with it!
Heat'n Bond is a bit thick so it can make your appliqu feel a bit stiff. The stiffness usually goes away with a few washings.
