What advice would you give someone starting this project? I was very pleased that this was the very easiest sweater pattern to crochet. I have crocheted sweaters before but this one has no seams to sew and the video was all I used to crochet the first of many I have crocheted using this pattern. To change the size of the sweater you need to change the size of the hook or the amount of the number of chains in the starting chain. If you add chains do it by multiples of 6, one each for the front left, front right, left shoulder, right shoulder and two for the back for a bigger size. Use washable yarn.

ooops... :-) pressed enter and didn't mean to. did you use size 9mm for size 18? I have made a sweater smaller for a doll size, have it on my page, but it just seems hard to make one that would fit me :-)

I really do not know what yarn I used but I did use a worsted weight yarn for all that are pictured. The pattern in the YouTube video is for a preemie size and I wanted something bigger. The one with the green ribbon is a child size 3 or 4 American size. I used 8mm hook for most of them. Here is the YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVUWsJmMneM

I just changed the stitches to double crochet stitches and I wanted to have a one color sweater. I chained the same as the pattern and I use the same hook but I used the diagram for guidance from there. Take a look at the picture of the brown sweater. http://www.redheart.com/free-patterns/crochet-vintage-striped-jacket

I used the yarn I had on hand as I did not go buy yarn for any of the child sweaters.
