What was your inspiration?
Project Runway Season 1
They were making these lovely flowy dresses and I wondered if I could make a dress and drew out a tiny bodice with a pleated broomstick style skirt that flowed like a waterfall in my sketchbook and it sat and sat and sat until a few months ago when I bought my little Emmaline...When she came nekkid in the box I just new it was time to turn all of my dresses and historical research into doll clothes.
What are you most proud of?
the skirting of the dress...at first it was plain and the hem was so lumpy and badly done that I just put it away. Frustration was the word of the day...I went back to it and cut off the hem, machine embroidered the vine and used my rolled hem foot to put a proper hem on it...now its just fine.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Don't Give Up...Its always worth going back and using your "do over" card! Its got no limit!
