Foundation paper piecing paper, cotton fabrics from stash

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to use the border fabric on something and I saw this little quilt in a magazine. I thought it would also be a good opportunity to try foundation paper piecing. It was a little tricky because the sashing strips and cornerstones were only 1 inch and the whole thing was on point with setting triangles.

What are you most proud of?

Foundation paper piecing is fun once you get the hang of it.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The quilt is quite small but is a fun project.

Wow, Arlene - for someone who started in 2011, you are prolific!! I especially like this one - great style and colors. I started just like you, but I'm still working... and so jealous of your output! I loved discovering paper piecing, too - and the Stupendous Stitching. Looking forward to seeing more of your creations!

Well, Pam . . .I started quilting in 2011. I learned to sew when I was in elementary school when I made an apron and then made one of those circular skirts with a zipper. That was in the 1950s so I've been sewing a long time. I have always owned a sewing machine but not always sewn. It was 2011 when I found a new obsessive hobby. With the help of Craftsy, I've been able to learn a lot of new techniques and have been able to put them to use and make some fun things. The other crafters have given me incentive to have fun and put my sewing machine to use.

Thanks, Nancy. That's what I was doing when I made the Flying Geese and this little quilt. Playing around with paper piecing. I love learning new techniques but can't focus long enough to make something I need to devote loads of time to. Hope you too have a wonderful Christmas.
