What materials did you use? Silk noil (raw silk) dyed with fiber reactive MX dyes

What are you most proud of? Love the drape and combination of needlefelting and dyeing.

This looks like a flag fold? I just did some color swatching with silk hankies and acid wash dyes. Used more of the hankies to test out how this heat set dye works with your various folds. WONDERFUL!! Will take pics and post in the online fabric dyeing classroom. Have a stash of scarves and simply cannot wait to use them!!

What is the process of drying and setting silk that other dyers talk about. Specifically for silk. Steam setting? How is that done? What is needed?

Sometimes people use the MX dyes with vinegar as the fixative instead of soda ash. Vinegar can't be effectively batched - it needs higher temperatures to set the dyes. So in that case, people steam by using a microwave (for smaller pieces) or by using a steamer - which is easy to do, but just requires more equipment.

Awesome! I love the richness and variety of your color palette and the shawl drapes beautifully. Bravo Jane! :-)
