What was your inspiration?

I made this dress for my boss for Xmas from some printed silk cotton blend fabric. She loved the dress and wanted another. She choose the colour combination and suggested the contrasting bias binding which I think works well.

What are you most proud of?

The invisible hand stitching around the bias binding and the fit.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I used the method of soaking the silk in a gelitine solution to stabilise it and prevent fraying - more detail on how I did this is in my silk shirt project. This also pre-shrinks the silk before sewing making hand washing possible.

Great advice! Love the binding idea. Did you learn about the silk idea from the liberty shirt class? I bought that class but haven't started yet

No ... just something I read on the net. I did an experiement making a short circle skirt using only 1m of silk - it worked fine so I did the shirt and dress this way too.
