Silent Auction Baby Quilt

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Charity

Style: Funky, Traditional

Materials

Cotton quilting fabric, cotton thread and cotton batting

What was your inspiration?

I had made a pinwheel similar to this for myself and wanted a quick project to make to add to a baby basket for a silent auction. I am also making other items to include in the basket.

What are you most proud of?

How the colors came together in the end. It looked too busy as I was laying out the blocks and added the purple piping around the blocks which made all the difference.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

It is a simple project to do. All you need for a pattern is the instructions for making a pinwheel using 1/2 triangle squares (HTS) and the knowledge of strip sewing for the border.

Thank you. I found a fabric with this color combination for my inspiration and then didn't even use that fabric.

I'm glad to see your quilt. I started making a simple pinwheel quilt with black and white with some blue. I think I will do the same borders to break up the buisyness.

I love the mitered corners ... that's something I NEED to learn how to do! And the colors are wonderful - such a happy quilt!

I had always avoided mitered corners. I recently watched a video on how to make mitered corners but I don't remember where it was. I may have been from the Quilter's Club of America site. It is easy once you know how.
