Instructions

This project is a free video tutorial I made especially for beginners.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Functional

Materials

Fleece fabric, elastic, thread

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to make a simple version of the popular shopping cart covers that baby boutiques sell for a lot of $$$$.

What are you most proud of?

All the positive feedback I've received from the video tutorial.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be patient and follow the video's steps and you will have one of these completed in no time!

I enjoyed your tutorial but was puzzled why you did not use your rotary cutter to do the leg openings and the slash for the safety belt. I watched as you struggled with the scissors and fleece and I know how easy it would have been to use the rotary. The various sizes give you such easier cutting! Plus you could then use the circles you cut out to applque on as 'flowers' just by sewing a circle in the middle or something else. Keep up the good work.

I have made several of these in the quilted version, but this looks so much simplier. Can't wait to try it.

Hope you like make it. I, too have used patterns and more complex designs and I prefer this way because it saves time and still gets the job done. :o)

Outstanding tutorial. My youngest already has one but I'll be sure to keep this in mind for any friends with little ones!

I am a sewer from way back, use to make all of my 4 children clothes, they are now young adults. No grandbabies on the horizon yet! Looks like I will be making a few of these to put away for a rainy day :))) Your beautiful project has given me the incentive to go out and buy a sewing machine while we are living overseas. I never had a reason to get one before! You presented your tutorial at a pace that was easy to follow, I look forward to seeing what else you have in store on the Mondays. Thanks for sharing Vanessa.

I have 5 great grandbabies. The oldest is 2 1/2 yrs old looking for something besides sweaters to make then and think I just found the perfect thing for the 3 boys, now the girls I want to make a skirt and sweater as soon as I find a skiirt pattern. The girls are going on 6 months
