Instructions

I was disappointed that not very much of the pre-quilted fabric showed since the outer pockets are so large. They're almost too deep, IMO. So the next time I make this, I'll make them smaller.

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Functional

For: Women

Style: Traditional, Cute, Casual

Materials

Pre-quilted breast cancer fabric (body), breast cancer themed fabric (pockets), inspirational breast cancer "words" fabric (pink)

What was your inspiration?

I'm a breast cancer survivor, saw this pattern on Pinterest, and had a remnant of pre-quilted fabric to use that was just the right size. I had the two coordinating fabrics in my stash, too.

I'm inspired by all the survivors I know and saddened by all of the victims of breast cancer, including my best high school friend, Ginger, who died from it the day before her 40th birthday (and when I had cancer, but didn't know it yet).

What are you most proud of?

That I was able to not only make the zippered pocket (interior) but that I was able to fix a mistake I made!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Make sure to cut very accurate pieces and seams. Also, be sure to have a VERY STRONG machine needle as you'll need it!
