Instructions

This is an original creation, but I did use the basic lines and pieces of the bodice of McCall's 6019 to get the correct lines and sizing for the bodice.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Children

Style: Retro / Vintage, Casual, Cute

Materials

Repurposed man's dress shirt, left over lace

What was your inspiration?

I like to repurpose clothing items from thrift stores to make children's clothes. There is a lot of fabric in men's shirts, and consequently they make cute little dresses for girls. This dress is a size 6 and utilizes most of the fabric in the shirt, as you can see from the photo of the 'leftovers'.

What are you most proud of?

That I was able to create yet another different dress from a thrift store $.25 cent find.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just think out of the box, and be creative. There are no 'rules', just results!!!

SEW beautiful!! Love re-purposing things. I make gift bags from men's shirt sleeves and completely remade a 1980's wedding dress. Take a look at my projects too.
