Instructions
I first measure the bodies width for the shirring -this one is 24" so my width of the fabric would be 24" - cut 2
Next the length I want the dress to be plus 1/2" for the seam allowance on both ends. For this dress it is a 26" so the length of each fabric piece is 27"
You would need (2) pieces cut at 24 x 27
Now sew the side seams of the two fabrics together only on one side.
You will first do the hems on each top and bottom of the dress before you start shirring. I run a straight sticth along the ends to be sure to get a straight hem everytime. I fold over and press down on the straight sticth I created a 1/4 and then fold over 1/4 again and press.
Begin to shir and add as many rows as you would like. I added 15 in this project. I used constrasting brown thread to give more style to the finished dress.
Once all your shirring is done sew the open side of the dress fabric side together with a staright sticth. I finish all my projects with an overcast stictch for a clean finished look.
I used brown ribbon for the straps and the bow on the side tied at the waste.
