What are you most proud of? I'm always thrilled when I can use scraps from my stash only. I used a long-arm machine to quilt the main body of the quilt with an all-over shell design. Then I used my basic sewing machine to free-motion the borders in tiny shell design.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Any colors work in this quilt, However, color value is very important to get good contrast between your shells. I tried to work my shells in rows of light - dark-light- dark... followed by a row of all medium values. I hung my blocks on my design wall as I went because it was the only way I could keep straight in my mind what needed to come next.

Neato neato! Never seen log cabin clamshells before. Your quilting is fantastic too.

Like the others who commented, I have never seen this log cabin design before. It is very intriguing. I have done a clamshell design, which is appliqu, and looks similar, but your design is quite unique and beautiful.

Wow! That took a lot of planning.
