What materials did you use? I used a hand-dyed, Blue-Faced Leicester fingering in superwash from the Etsy shop DyeForWool (addicted to them). The colour is "Dead Leaves" and is so warm and mellow. I used KnitPro (aka KnitPicks) 4mm metal "Nova" interchangeable needles with a roomy 150cm (c. 60") cable. And many, many stitch markers (my favourite, the hybrid split rings). My 'shawl pin' is actually an all-wooden earring. I don't (as yet) have a real one, but it's pretty much guaranteed that with a little imagination there's always something that will work already in the house. (see also my yarn bowl)

What are you most proud of? I learned soooo much in the completion of this project. Lay those lifelines, rip when you need to, enjoy the process. I also modified the pattern a bit (didn't add the edging). Oh, this project was also my introduction to knitting in public. I couldn't help myself! Waiting rooms, offices, I was there needles in hand. Turns out to be quite the conversation starter! Also proud I didn't rush it. I trusted the process and the skills and lessons I was learning along the way. From my very first provisional cast-on, to my first wool blocking, I didn't take short-cuts. My first shawl!

What advice would you give someone starting this project? LIFE-LINES! Also, feel free to go digital. I've never printed out a pattern. Preview on a Mac with its strike-through, textbox, highlighter, and box functionality is all I've ever needed, no touch-screen needed.

Thank you! I'm chomping at the bit to do more lace, but when I make the leap to garments I certainly hope to be able to make them with as much skill as you (eventually!).

Love the color!

Thank you! It's so autumnal. I really can't recommend DyeForWool and DyeForYarn enough. They really do make dying yarn into an art. Such lush colours.
