What was your inspiration?

I found this beauty of a pattern in a book from the '80's called Women's Day Prize Winning Afghans. It was shown with a really dark blue background but the fans stood out to me! I made a small one for my granddaughter Shannon. This was about 5 years ago. She loved it so much she asked me to make her a larger one to keep at her boyfriend's house so I made her this one! I changed the edging to one I liked better than the original

What are you most proud of?

Getting all those ends woven in! lol

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Weave in the ends as you go otherwise you will have a HUGE task when the blanket is finished! I made all the fans first and wove in the ends then added the white around them. It seemed to go faster that way for some reason

The pattern is in a hardcover book from the 1980's called Women's Day Prize Winning Afghans. I found it on e-bay a few years ago. Check e-bay - you may be able to find one. The pattern is called Fan Dance but is shown with a really dark background
