|Here are some details about my project:|
Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: Used the Wilton cake basic recipe by making cake flour according to recipe. Baked using silicone tins and it came out light and fluffy. This is my second attempt and was due to getting the correct ingredients. Cake was torte, layered and filled with buttercream. Used the Wilton buttercream recipe and this time was able to get vegetable shortening which is key to getting the right consistency. Thinned the buttercream with milk and used cake icer tip no 789 to cover cake and smooth it out top with angled spatula and sides with regular spatula. Rosettes for borders, shaggy mum flowers for top and dots for sides. It was a massive improvement from my earlier venture into buttercream medium. Glad i took the course and i could go back to areas where i am having difficulty and watch over and over again
