What materials did you use? Pre-quilted fabric (1 yard will yield a few mats depending on the size of your machine), double fold binding to match, sewing thread.

What are you most proud of? Realizing I could save so much time buying pretty pre-quilted fabric! I always wondered what people used it for and now I know it's for projects like this.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? When purchasing pre-quilted fabric use a coupon! It is waaaay too expensive trying to buy it at the regular price (normally $19.99) so use a 50% off coupon and get a yard for $10. You can make two or three mats and even sell one to your friends! Some people prefer to just fold up the bottom portion where the pocket goes so you don't have to put binding all the way around. It may also be a good idea to put some non-skid cabinet liner on the bottom of the mat to keep it from moving around when you lift up your sewing machine.

Great idea! For me and as gifts for my quilting friends. Thanks for the inspiration!

Love the fabric choices. Instead of pre-quilted fabrics I think I will use thick interfacing and sew two pieces together to provide a cushion. I am going to have to make some of these for Christmas presents for my crafty friends and family.

Great idea, how do I get this pattern?

my first one was made with 2 quilted place mats one on the table one folded in half lengthwise and sewn together the folded one will need to be stitched to divide up for pockets. and one the ends to form the pocket. it worked well.
