What was your inspiration?

I got my sewing machine used and it was quite dusty. After giving it a wipe down and a tune up, I decided a sewing machine cover would be an excellent way to minimize dusting off the machine in the future.

What are you most proud of?

This was my first sewing project ever, and I did it completely by myself. Very satisfying!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Unless you have a denim sewing machine needle, avoid sewing over the belt loops. My needle bent the first time around, so on the second attempt I skipped over the belt loops and went back to hand sew them afterward.

This is superb! I need a cover for my sewing machine to replace the ugly yellowed hard bulky plastic one that came with my Singer! I told a sewing machine shop that companies should make their machines a color other than white/off-white. But anyhow back to your project, I really like the reuse of a pair of worn out jeans, and that the jeans pockets are so useful for sewing accessory storage when the cover's on the machine.

I had to put the front of the jeans upside down because the button intimidated me but now that I look back, you could probably sew the fly shut. Then when you sew across the waist band you could unbutton, then re-button after the stitches are placed. All well, you live and learn! Especially with sewing :)
