Being nearly 50 I was unsure if these dresses are for me. Problem now because I do really like these styles.

I am also nearing 50! I love the retro stlye also. I found this dress to be elegant and fun. With a jacket and jewelry it was very sophisticated. Give it a try! You can move and adjust pretty much everything to make it a dress you will be proud of. Good luck!

I have a blue brocade to make this dress, too! It looks beautiful. You did a great job. I'm excited to start on mine. Quick question-- it looks like the bust cup portion is a little bigger on your dress. Did you do a full bust adjustment, or just add more coverage? The reason I ask is because I don't have much in the way in the way of cleavage but I still felt a little "exposed" when I tried on the first muslin. I might try to extend the bust portion up a tiny bit higher.

I actually did a full bust enlargement and raised the top of the cups a tad to fit my natural shape. I also felt the original was a bit to low for me. I did try to keep the center V as deep as I could to add a little 'spice'. It took me a few muslin tries before I felt comfortable and I didn't feel like the dress would fall. Hope this helps! Good Luck:)
