I made the original headband using Wisdom Yarns Poems Puzzle -- an I-cord yarn in beautiful colors worked on a #19 needle. I have made subsequent headbands using stash yarns.
What was your inspiration?
I fell in love with the Poems Puzzle yarn when I saw it in my local yarn shop. Choosing a color was difficult; they're all so beautiful. I finally decided on #307, Old World Plum. I had no idea of what I was going to do with the yarn, but played with it until the wee hours of the morning, finally deciding on the pattern stitch and design for the Seven Stitch Headband.
What are you most proud of?
The rave reviews I have received when wearing the headband out! And the fact that most knitters will be able to complete a headband in less than an hour, making it quick and easy to create some lovely gifts for others to enjoy.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If you're using stash yarns, have fun putting together your own combinations, thereby creating your own yarn. Just make sure that your collection of yarns is thick enough for the #19 needles to ensure a warm headband.
